MEMPHIS, TN – Archer, formerly known as Archer Malmo, a full-service independent agency with a 70-year legacy, is excited to announce its rebranding and reinvention. The agency has shortened its name to the more memorable and meaningful “Archer,” marking a significant milestone in its history.
The three stars in Archer’s logo represent the three iterations of the agency, which was founded as Ward Archer & Associates in 1952 before transitioning to Archer Malmo in 1991. They were inspired by the stars that comprise Orion’s belt, one of the brightest and most enduring wayfinding objects in the night sky.
“Our identity draws upon that most durable of guideposts, the night sky, to signal our mastery of moving brands forward through a combination of science, storytelling, and imagining that which is possible. For brands bold enough to chart a course across the unknown, Archer is the fixed point keeping them moving constantly and purposefully toward their destination,” said Eric Christopherson, Group Creative Director.
Archer’s rebranding is a culmination of progressive initiatives that have been underway within the agency over the past few years. Last summer, the partners of Archer completed the sale of the company to the employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Additionally, two of the partners retired at the end of 2022, paving the way for new leadership within the agency, including:
· Meredith Cuevas was promoted to Chief Growth Officer, overseeing agency marketing, business development, HR/people strategies, and the agency’s brand strategy function.
· Laura Hedges was promoted to VP, Outdoor, leading the agency’s 35-plus-year relationship with an outdoor lifestyle brand.
· Shannon Robichaud joined the agency in January as SVP, Business Development to reflect the agency’s commitment to growth.
· Erin Wondra recently joined the agency in May as VP, Agriculture, leading one of Archer’s cornerstone verticals
“As we continue to set our sights higher for our clients and ourselves, we were motivated to transform our external representation to closer match who we are and who we will be moving forward,” said Russ Williams, CEO. “We are at an exciting inflection point in the Archer story, and our new branding represents our commitment to making these next 70 years as exciting as the first.”
And indeed the future does look bright for the agency. Archer’s commitment to building an inclusive and positive culture has never been stronger. Their ERGs are entering their third year in existence, providing support for BIPOC, women, LGBTQ+ employees, and their respective allies, as well as those focused on prioritizing their mental health.
Archer recently won its last two competitive AOR pitches and added two significant AOR clients without pitching. These new business wins added substantial growth to the agency’s client roster, which includes Palm Beach Tan, Wind Creek Hospitality, Virbac, Memphis Tourism, AMVAC, and Capital Farm Credit.
